About Titiro Whakamua Kindergarten

Titiro Whakamua Kindergarten is a specialist early learning service supporting young parents who are still in school or returning to education after having a child. This kaupapa plays a vital role in creating inclusive pathways for whānau to continue their learning journey while their tamariki thrive in a nurturing environment.

We are fortunate to receive amazing support from KidsCan, who provide food for all the tamariki, every day of the week.

Titiro Whakamua is also open to the wider community and currently has enrolment spaces available for children from 0 - 5 years.  It is located on the grounds of Heretaunga College in Upper Hutt.

The kindergarten currently closes during school holidays but will potentially remain open for additional weeks every year, to suit the needs of the community.

The position

Titiro Whakamua Kindergarten has created an interesting new position and we're looking for a very special person!  Are you interested in supporting our teaching team with a variety of administration and office duties, as well as preparing the KidsCan meals for the tamariki?

Working Monday - Friday, your time will be split between the office and the kitchen.  You'll be working closely with the Senior Head Teacher but have responsibility for many administration tasks and all the cooking duties.

To be ideal for this role you will be:

  • Able to commit to working 5 days per week, for 5.5 hours each day (9am - 3.00pm)

  • Reliable, dependable and completely trustworthy, so the Teachers know they can count on you

  • Proactive, well-organised and able to plan ahead

  • Experienced in office management and/or finance roles, with an eye for detail

  • Comfortable in the kitchen, with knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safe food preparation methods.

All the meals that are provided come with instructions on how to prepare them, so you don’t need to be a super-confident cook!

You’ll enjoy being part of a small team, doing jobs that are vital to the smooth running of the kindergarten.  You'll be happy to spend some time with the babies and children, so previous childcare experience is an advantage, but not a requirement.

To learn more about this role, please call Kristine (HR Manager) on 04 920 9841.
