Titiro Whakamua Kindergarten - Full-time Teacher
Located in Upper Hutt, we provide care and education for tamariki from 3 months old

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement 2023-2026.

Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. About Titiro Whakamua Kindergarten
Titiro Whakamua Kindergarten is attached to the Teen Parent School at Heretaunga College, Wallaceville, Upper Hutt. This kaupapa plays a vital role in creating inclusive pathways for whānau to continue their learning journey, while tamariki thrive in a nurturing environment.
A significant focus of this role is working with babies and very young children, requiring a Teacher who is confident, gentle and nurturing. They’ll be happy to spend lots of time cuddling and soothing pēpi.
Māmās are a constant and welcome presence – our close proximity to the Teen Parent School allows mums to pop in at any time to feed, hold and play with their baby. We place a strong emphasis on relationships, attachment, and creating calm, secure environments where pēpi feel safe, valued and cared for.

The position
We are seeking a warm, committed and collaborative Teacher to join our team.

The successful applicant will:
Work collaboratively in a fully qualified team
Provide high‑quality, nurturing care for babies and young children
Plan and implement a responsive, play based curriculum
Build strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau and the wider community.
We’re looking for a Teacher who:
Holds an ECE teaching qualification and current practicing certificate
Loves working with babies and has previous experience in a similar role
Values whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and inclusive practice
Has a commitment to Māori and Pacifica tamariki
Uses, or is willing to learn te reo Māori and Pacific languages.

Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary) qualification
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current first aid certificate.

We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks’ annual leave and paid professional time.
