Who are we?
Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who share that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 22 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills, Wallaceville and Wainuiomata. About Sun Valley Kindergarten
At Sun Valley Kindergarten we place a strong emphasis on Whanaungatanga (relationships) as a foundation for teaching and learning. Our warm and friendly teaching team are passionate about providing an inclusive learning environment and offer a range of flexible enrolment options for children and whanau.
Within our modern, spacious, well-resourced environment we provide a range of individual play-based learning programmes that support children to develop into resilient, confident and competent learners.

The position
We are looking for an experienced and fun-loving teacher to join us at Sun Valley Kindergarten. Our teachers are passionate about providing learning opportunities that encourage curiosity and wonder - are you excited to bring your own skills, talents and experiences into our team?
Working at Sun Valley Kindergarten will allow you to:
experience regular high-quality professional development opportunities
complete a robust induction process led by your Head Teacher
maximise 12.5 hours of non-contact time, by engaging in regular team planning and assessment meetings
receive first aid recertification and annual flu vaccinations funded by the Association.
To be successful here, you will need to:
be a committed team player, with an enthusiastic "can do" attitude
embrace the vibrant hum of kindergarten, while encouraging a calm, peaceful learning environment
have a solid understanding of Te Whāriki
be intuitive and understanding of the varying needs of tamariki
have the proven ability to write engaging and informative assessments
have excellent communication skills and a great sense of humour!
Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current First Aid certificate.
You must also have the legal right to work in New Zealand before applying for this vacancy.
We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks’ annual leave and paid professional time . Terms and Conditions of employment are set by the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement 2023-2026.
