Who are we?
Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who can share in that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 21 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills, Wainuiomata and Wallaceville. We are proud to be an integral part of our local community and celebrate our cultural diversity and identity.
About Stokes Valley Kindergarten
The team at Stokes Valley Kindergarten is passionate about providing learning experiences that focus on the interests and needs of tamariki. The child certainly is ‘the heart of the matter’ at our kindergarten. Our beautiful outdoor area has numerous gardens, and is complemented by a spacious and well-resourced indoor play area.
We are inspired by innovative learning spaces and strive to develop experiences alongside children that are filled with curiosity and wonder. Tamariki are encouraged to lead their own learning here and the team is committed to providing ongoing learning experiences that reflect children’s interest through play.

The position
Hutt City Kindergartens is seeking an experienced educator with the leadership skills and passion to maintain the quality service that Stokes Valley Kindergarten is known for.
You might already have worked as a Head Teacher or perhaps you're ready to step into a leadership role.
You will be able to demonstrate that you can:
lead collaborative working relationships that inspire the team to excel
provide an inclusive learning environment that is focused on the development of tamariki's social wellbeing
effectively use available financial resources to support kindergarten operations
maintain and promote respectful and positive relationships with whānau and the community.
You will also have a high level of knowledge and practice of Te Whāriki and current learning and teaching theories.

Applying for this role
Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary) qualification
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current first aid certificate.
We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks annual leave and paid professional time during term breaks.
