Who are we?

Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who can share in that passion.

We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 22 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Wallaceville, Western Hills and Wainuiomata. We are proud to be an integral part of our local community and celebrate our cultural diversity and identity.

About Holborn Kindergarten

Holborn Kindergarten is located in Stokes Valley - 15 minutes from central Lower Hutt and central Upper Hutt.

 We foster a culture where respect, positive social competencies, inclusion, fun and joy for learning are encouraged. We provide experiences that will enrich tamariki's lives and give them the knowledge, skills and disposition they need to tackle new challenges. 

 We work in partnership with whānau and hold annual events, such as a quiz night and high tea, that are well-supported by our community.

The successful applicant will:

  • Enjoy working 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday.  Aside from the daily lunch cover and weekly team meeting, there is some flexibility to set your own work schedule

  • Hold an ECE or primary teaching qualification and a current practicing certificate

  • Be a reliable, trustworthy and flexible team player who values manaakitanga,  whanaungatanga and inclusive practice

  • receive competitive pay rates, 6 weeks annual leave and paid professional time during term breaks.

Applying for this role

Applicants must have:

  • a relevant teaching qualification - a minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)

  • a current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand

  • a current first aid certificate

  • the legal right to work in Aotearoa New Zealand before applying for this role - we are not an accredited employer.
