Who are we?
Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who can share in that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 22 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills, Wainuiomata and Wallaceville. About Fetu Ao Kindergarten
Fetu Ao Kindergarten is located on the grounds of Tui Glen School in Stokes Valley and provides an all‑day early learning service (8:00am–4:30pm) for tamariki aged 0–5 years. Our service combines the child‑centred philosophy of kindergarten education with the flexibility of longer hours, offering a calm, stable and enriching environment for tamariki and their whānau.

The position
This position will suit a Teacher who genuinely enjoys working with infants and toddlers, and who understands the importance of responsive, nurturing care in the earliest years of life. A significant part of each day is spent caring for and supporting our youngest tamariki, including kohungahunga.
Fetu Ao is open for most of the year (except for a closure period during the Christmas/New Year period), so it's important to be able to work during school holidays.

The successful applicant will:
Work collaboratively within an experienced and passionate teaching team
Provide high‑quality, nurturing care for kohungahunga and young children
Feel confident supporting infant routines and learning
Plan and implement a responsive, inclusive curriculum for tamariki aged 0–5
Build respectful, trusting relationships with whānau and the wider community
We are looking for a teacher who:
Holds an ECE teaching qualification and current practising certificate
Loves working with infants and has relevant experience in a similar role
Demonstrates a strong commitment to Maori and Pacifica tamariki and whānau
Values whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and inclusive practice
Uses, or is willing to learn, te reo Māori and Pacific languages

Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current first aid certificate.
We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks’ annual leave and paid professional time.
