The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement 2026-2028.

Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who share that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 22 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills, Wainuiomata and Wallaceville. The position
We are seeking a warm, committed and collaborative Teacher to join our team.

The successful applicant will:
Work collaboratively in a fully qualified team
Provide high‑quality, nurturing care for young children
Plan and implement a responsive, play based curriculum
Build strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau and the wider community.
We’re looking for a Teacher who:
Holds an ECE teaching qualification and current practicing certificate
Has previous experience in a kindergarten environment
Is a committed and enthusiastic team player
Has the proven ability to write engaging and informative assessments
Values whanaungatanga, manaakitanga and inclusive practice
Uses, or is willing to learn te reo Māori and Pacific languages.

a relevant teaching qualification - a minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)
a current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
a current first aid certificate
