Who are we?
Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who share that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 22 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills, Wallaceville and Wainuiomata. We are proud to be an integral part of our local community and celebrate our cultural diversity and identity.
About Holborn Kindergarten
Tamariki come to Holborn Kindergarten from all areas of Stokes Valley. At our kindergarten we foster a culture where respect, positive social competencies, inclusion, fun and a joy for learning are encouraged. We provide experiences that enrich children's lives and give them the knowledge, skills and dispositions they need to tackle new challenges, in partnership with whānau and the community.
Our small team is made up of three Teachers, an Administrator, and of course, a Head Teacher!
Holborn Kindergarten closes for the school holidays, so reopens on 22nd January.
The Head Teacher position
Hutt City Kindergartens is seeking an experienced kindergarten professional with the leadership skills and passion needed to maintain the quality service that Holborn Kindergarten is known for.
You will be able to demonstrate that you can:
lead collaborative working relationships that inspire the team to excel
provide an inclusive learning environment that is focused on the development of tamariki's social wellbeing
effectively manage the financial resources available, to support the kindergarten operations
work collaboratively with outside agencies
maintain and promote respectful and positive relationships with whānau and the community
develop innovative and creative play spaces that encourage tamariki to explore and learn.
You will also have a high level of knowledge and practice of Te Whāriki and current learning and teaching theories.
You'll receive:
generous non-contact time
six weeks annual leave, taken during school holidays
Regular PLD opportunities, including Head Teacher Leaderships Days (4 per year).

Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current first aid certificate.
