The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers' Collective Agreement 2023-2026.

Who are we?
Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who can share in that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 21 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills, Wainuiomata and Wallaceville. About Fetu Ao Kindergarten
We're excited to welcome Stokes Valley Community Childcare Centre into the Hutt City Kindergarten network from 1st July 2025, when it will become Fetu Ao Kindergarten.
Fetu Ao means “Morning Star” and is a symbol of new beginnings and guidance. The name reflects our commitment to nurturing tamariki through a supportive and future-focused learning environment
Hutt City Kindergartens is dedicated to providing the best education for tamariki, with a 100% qualified and experienced teaching team.

The position
We are looking for an energetic and dedicated teacher to join our team. Our teachers are passionate about providing learning opportunities that encourage curiosity and wonder - are you excited to bring your own skills, talents and experiences to our vibrant environment?
Fetu Ao is open for most of the year (except for a closure period during the Christmas/New Year period), so you'll need to be able to work during school holidays.
Working here will allow you to:
take most of your annual leave at times that suit you
experience regular high-quality professional development opportunities
receive first aid recertification and annual flu vaccinations funded by the Association.
To be successful in this role, you must:
have a solid knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki
have previous experience working with tamariki from 0 - 5 years old
be a reliable, trustworthy and flexible team player, with a "can do" attitude
value and celebrate each child’s unique personality
be able to work in partnership with whānau and the community.

Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current first aid certificate.
We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks’ annual leave and paid professional time.
