Who are we?
Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 95 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who can share in that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 22 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills, Wainuiomata and Wallaceville. About Fetu Ao Kindergarten
Fetu Ao Kindergarten is located in the heart of Tui Glen School, in Stokes Valley. We offer an all-day service (8:00am to 4:30pm) for tamariki aged 0-5 years. Our service blends the nurturing, child-centred philosophy of kindergarten with the flexibility of longer hours, providing a stable and enriching environment for both tamariki and their whānau.
Our teaching is grounded in the principles of Friedrich Froebel, the founder of kindergarten. This means tamariki are seen as capable, creative learners who thrive through hands-on experiences, play, and meaningful relationships with others.
Hutt City Kindergartens is dedicated to providing the best education for tamariki, with a 100% qualified and experienced teaching team.

The position
We are looking for an energetic and dedicated teacher to join our team. Our teachers are passionate about providing learning opportunities that encourage curiosity and wonder - are you excited to bring your own skills, talents and experiences to our vibrant environment?
Fetu Ao is open for most of the year (except for a closure period during the Christmas/New Year period), so you'll need to be able to work during school holidays.

To be successful in this role, you must:
have a solid knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki
have previous experience working with tamariki from 0-5 years old
be a reliable, trustworthy and flexible team player, with a "can do" attitude
value and celebrate each child’s unique personality
be able to work in partnership with whānau and the community.

Applying for this role
Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current first aid certificate.
We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks’ annual leave and paid professional time.
