Who are we?
Hutt City Kindergartens have been growing young learners for over 90 years in Lower Hutt, providing quality and affordable early childhood education. Our teaching teams are passionate about providing rich learning environments where children can explore, develop and have fun. We welcome people who share that passion.
We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 20 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hill and Wainuiomata. We are proud to be an integral part of our local community and celebrate our cultural diversity and identity.
About Waterloo Kindergarten
The teaching team at Waterloo Kindergarten has created an environment which provides a range of opportunities for children to engage in, explore, follow their interests and progress their learning and development. The team promotes curiosity and discovery, and the kindergarten has a focus on and is rich in early literacy experiences.
The kindergarten’s environment encourages exploration of the natural world with its redeveloped outdoor area, trees, gardens and bird life. Children’s knowledge is valued and celebrated, which has created an environment where the children are excited about learning.
The position
We are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic kindergarten teacher to bring their passion and enthusiasm to Waterloo Kindergarten.
To be successful, you will need to:
have knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki
be a flexible team player, with a "can do" attitude
value and celebrate each child’s unique personality
be able to work in partnership with whānau and the wider community.
Applicants must hold a:
Minimum of Dip. Tch (ECE or Primary)
Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
Current First Aid certificate
We offer competitive pay rates, 6 weeks’ annual leave and paid professional time during term breaks.
