Early Intervention Teacher (EIT)

  • Part time - up to 20 hours per week
  • Based at the Association office in Epuni
  • Travel required to visit kindergarten teaching teams in the Hutt Valley

We have 20 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hills and Wainuiomata. About the role...

We are seeking an experienced Early Intervention Teacher (EIT) to provide support and advice to our 20 teaching teams, to ensure diverse learners have equal opportunities at being competent and confident learners.

This is a newly created position at our Association, so you will have the opportunity to make the role your own!  You'll be supported to succeed by our Senior Teachers and the General Manager Professional Services.

As our EIT you will:

  • Develop systems and processes that support teachers to work effectively with diverse learners and their whānau
  • Regularly visit our kindergartens to meet with teachers and observe tamariki 
  • Write referrals to appropriate agencies on behalf of the teaching teams
  • Be involved in the identification and presentation of PLD to staff
  • Engage in ongoing learning opportunities
  • Develop working relationships with appropriate external organisations
  • Be part of the Professional Advisory Team, based at the Association office.

  • Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood)
  • A Post-Graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention
  • Current Practicing Certificate from the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
  • A full driver's licence.
