We are a not-for-profit dedicated to making quality early childhood education accessible to all. We have 20 kindergartens throughout the Hutt Valley, including Stokes Valley, Central Hutt, Western Hill and Wainuiomata. We are proud to be an integral part of our local community and celebrate our cultural diversity and identity.

About Arakura Kindergarten

Nestled in a sheltered area at the end of a long driveway off Wellington Road, our natural outdoor area offers a calm and relaxed environment where curiosity, exploration and risk taking are encouraged. Tamariki are involved in self directed learning and are supported to explore their theories of the natural world,  problem solve, negotiate and co-operate.

To support our commitment to Te Ao Maori we have integrated Forest Kindergarten into our current kaupapa where our oldest tamariki are able to experience the Ngahere/forest and are encouraged to make authentic connections to the natural environment by nurturing and respecting the world around them.

Be part of our friendly teaching team who foster a welcoming and supportive approach that encourages respect for everyone. We acknowledge the uniqueness of our tamariki and recognise their need to learn at their own pace and in their own time.  We know that the best possible learning outcomes for tamariki are achieved when kaiako have an authentic and nurturing whanaungatanga/relationship with them and their whānau.   We work closely with our whānau to develop learning programmes based on our tamariki's individual learning needs.
